ARTIMADA company was created officially in 2014 and its main activity is manufacturing hats and bags made by raffia, sisal and other natural straw from Madagascar. ARTIMADA stands for ARTISANS DE MADAGASCAR, which means that the company work with all kinds of artisans of different knowledges and skills , either in the production workshop or outside, in the suburbs, in the countrysides and even in the far province of Madagascar where are located weavers of reeds or palm leaves and sisal;Those who work full time at the factory specialize in the different steps of the manufacturing process of bags and hats but they are also skillfull in handstitching, weaving, crochetting, knitting, braiding and all products are handmade. Hundreds of people work at the factory everyday and six days of the week but there are many women who work at home because they have small babies to take care, others are old and cannot go out to work, these women do specially crochet and braiding works, raffia tassels and pompons and other hangoffs. We make up to 300-500 bags per day and supply worldwide customers, we are fair-trade company and provide works to many illiterate , poor and disadvantage people who are willing to be trained and become talented ,handcrafted after some week of training.Factory also offers lunch to all people working full time at the workshop, we give food to hundreds of people everyday.ARTIMADA is the livelihood of many hundreds of families who can now support themselves in their daily needs instead of begging on the street
